SARAH KOVNER “Making History”
Sarah Kovner is a longtime civic leader and political activist whose work has helped shape politics, women’s rights, civil rights, and public service for six decades. She was active in the 1960s , through the Village Independent Democrats, to make the party more progressive, and lead the fight to legalize abortion in New York. She was a founder and board chair of the First Women’s Bank, and later served in the Clinton administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Kovner continues to tirelessly support civic, philanthropic, and Democratic causes.
