Acclaimed actress, author, photojournalist and former fashion model, Candice Bergen is best known for playing the sharp, witty television journalist Murphy Brown, a role that earned her five Emmy Awards. The daughter of famed ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and model Frances Bergen, she grew up in Hollywood and first gained attention as a film actress in the 1960s and 1970s, appearing in movies such as The Group, Carnal Knowledge, and Starting Over. Later in her career, she became known to new audiences through roles in Boston Legal, Sex and the City, and Shrinking.
